Production Factory Floor Manager — Versa Desk

Role Summary

The Factory Floor Manager will lead day-to-day factory operations for Versa Desk, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role is part of a major reorganization that includes the implementation and integration of AI and several new processes.

The Factory Floor Manager will drive measurable performance improvements through strong planning, continuous improvement, and rigorous quality tracking, while building a collaborative and positive culture grounded in teamwork and accountability.

Responsibilities

Lead and Manage Factory Floor Operations

  • Lead and manage day-to-day factory floor operations for a Los Angeles based manufacturing company.
  • Ensure production runs safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies.
  • Coordinate daily activities across relevant departments and shifts.
  • Manage work assignments, staffing needs, and capacity planning to meet production demand.
  • Maintain clear communication between operators, supervisors, engineering, and support teams.

Own Reorganization Execution and Operational Transformation

  • Drive adoption of new processes across the factory floor.
  • Lead implementation planning and rollout of AI integration, including training, workflow changes, and adoption support.
  • Identify gaps during the transition and ensure smooth, controlled change management.
  • Update floor procedures and ensure teams follow standardized workflows.

Ensure Close Measurement, Quality Tracking, and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor KPIs tied to throughput, yield, scrap, rework, cycle time, and defect rates.
  • Establish and maintain quality tracking systems with a consistent reporting cadence.
  • Respond to quality issues through structured root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and ensure results are sustained.

Drive On-Time Delivery and Customer-First Performance

  • Prioritize production schedules to protect on-time customer deliveries.
  • Escalate risks to delivery commitments early and propose mitigation plans.
  • Identify and remove bottlenecks that threaten schedule adherence.
  • Ensure quality and process compliance so customer shipments consistently meet expectations.

Build a Collaborative, Positive Culture

  • Lead by example with a respectful and solution-focused leadership style.
  • Create a team environment that encourages input, ownership, and accountability.
  • Coach and develop team leads and operators to strengthen performance consistency.
  • Promote collaboration across shifts and functional boundaries.

Implement Six Sigma or Kazan Standards

  • Use Six Sigma or Kazan methods to improve processes and reduce variation.
  • Apply data-driven problem-solving and standard work principles.
  • Support training and adoption of quality and process-improvement tools across the factory floor.
  • Ensure improvement projects have measurable outcomes and documented learnings.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • AA Degree is required,  BA/BS degree in Engineering or related business degree is preferred, but not required.
  • 10+ years of warehouse operations, factory or production management experience managing floor operations.
  • Proven experience organizing warehouse layouts and managing bin locations for parts storage
  •  Demonstrated expertise in retrieval workflows and location accuracy
  •  Experience leading inventory cycle counting, including variance investigation and corrective action
  • Demonstrated experience using structured problem-solving methods, including Six Sigma or Kazan methodologies.Six Sigma or Kazan certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of quality control practices and KPI management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, including process reorganization and technology adoption.

Systems & Data

  • Strong knowledge of ERP and MRP systems (receiving/inventory transactions, item/location setup, and posting accuracy)
  • Experience using inventory tracking software and hand-held RF scanners.
  •  Ability to interpret and troubleshoot system-to-physical discrepancies
  •  Strong data discipline and attention to detail—understanding that clean data powers accurate reporting and analytics
  • Proficiency in Google Suite
  • Experience supporting or implementing new technologies, including AI-enabled workflows, is preferred

Collaboration & Communication

  •  Ability to partner effectively with Business Intelligence / analytics teams
  •  Comfortable translating operational processes into data needs and actionable improvements
  • Strong leadership presence and professional communication across teams
  • Experience participating in analytics projects, inventory optimization, or automation/AI pilots
  • Ability to speak Spanish is preferred. 

Physical Requirements & Environment

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Comfort operating heavy machinery (forklifts, pallet jacks) daily.
  • Ability to stand and walk on concrete warehouse floors for up to 8–10 hours per day.
  • Location: Must be based in California and eligible to work in the US.
  • Pay and Benefits:  This is a full time role working onsite in Los Angeles, CA.   Pay range is $90k-$125k bonus eligible.  Company offers full benefits including:  Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Vacation, Sick Pay, Holiday Pay, 401k plan.
